The launch party of The Cecil Street Project promises to be a night not to be missed. With a fantastic array of installations, exhibitions, performances and more, in a unique setting.
The Cecil Street Project is based in Cecil Hall, an ex-church now containing a Victorian Street Scene with 11 individual units. For the party, each unit will contain an installation, exhibit, performance or projection, with many more activities and artworks in the communal spaces.
Come up to find out more about a new arts centre in Cumbria, network with other north west artists and learn more about contemporary art in the great border city of Carlisle.
The party also marks the start of Carlisle Arts Festival, a week long celebration of contemporary culture in Carlisle.

The Carlisle public will not only be able to touch the art, but also be a part of it, at this summer's Arcade Arts Exhibition. Taking place for the third time in the empty shops and walkway of the city’s historic Lowther Arcade, this exhibition includes sound art, sculpture, textiles, ceramics, performance, and even badges.
The exhibition’s artists come from across the world, including Netherlands based artists Sonja van Kerkhoff and Sen Mcglinn, who have created installations of mixed media including handwriting, sound and influenced by the notion of storytelling. Edinburgh based, Tonya McMullan has also created a site specific installation made up of sculpture, film, and performance and the public will also have the chance to draw their own portrait, with Sophie Rogers, who will be putting the public's images onto badges, plus much more to mark this year’s Arts Festival.
Launching on Friday 17 July at 8pm the Arcade kicks off the Festival proper and presents an evening of arts, music, dance plus the odd surprise performance, and presents:
Amy Ferguson, Ashlea Logan, Sean Burns, David Aspden, Olga Kaliszer, Christine Hurford, Tonya McMullan, Di Clay, Marion Prentice, Sen McGlinn & Sonja van Kerkhoff, Janis Young, Mj Clay, Sophie Rogers, James Hamilton, Nick Pemberton & Ben Wohl and West Walls Studio Artists – including Paul Taylor’s The Culture Map
